Heartless Review

Image
“You want to hear a riddle, you say? I know a very good one. It begins, why is a raven like a writing desk?’ Recommend:  Yes, but read Alice in Wonderland before reading this, and then you'll definitely gonna enjoy it. Rating:  ★★★/5 stars Blurb:  This book is like a prequel of Alice in Wonderland and talks about the story of Queen of Hearts (Cath) and How she became the most iconic evil queen. But before this, she was just a sweet girl, who only dreams of opening a bakery with her friend Mary Ann. The story further moves with how she fell in love with a guy named Jest and surviving in a land full of mystery, magic, and monsters. If we talk about Jest, he is indeed an interesting character carrying piles of secrets with him. Review: I  personally find the book okayish, for me, the story needs to have something sparkling which should keep me hooked till the very end. But it did not happen here. Also, I have a 100-page rule in which I don't ju...

February Wrap Up

Image
February Wrap Up February was a good month for reading, and we read six books in total, among which two were e-arcs. I honestly don't enjoy reading e-books, it also takes me ages reading these but I am getting better at it. So, without a further due let's set things moving!! The first book I read this month was  1. The Man Who Won the World by O.E Boroni Rating: 3.5/5 stars. I received an e-arc of this book from the author and I really liked this book. I have already put my review on our blog, Here's the link:  http://thewordaholics.blogspot.in/2017/02/the-man-who-won-world-by-oe-boroni.html   If you want to read a historical fiction then you should grab this book and enter into the world created by O.E. Boronoi.  2. The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan  Rating:  4/5 stars. I really enjoyed reading this book!! I read the first book last year and fell in love with Percy Jackson. However, if I compare the first...

ILLUMINAE by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff Review

Image
Illuminae Review Blurb:   This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded. The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit. But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she  swore  she'd never speak to again. ...

The Man Who Won the World by O.E. Boroni- Review

Image
I received an E-arc of this book from the author for an honest review. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions that I have experienced while reading it. I find the book has such an intriguing story and eloquent. Though it is slow paced read, and it took me about 50 pages or so to get into it. But once I was into it, I could see the whole Korean drama in front of me. This wonderful historical fiction based in Korea during 900s takes you entirely in a different world. The story starts when the princess of Jihye disappeared from the palace and trying to survive outside the wall without getting into any troublesome situation. Obviously! That didn't happen, and when she got into trouble, a young boy (Choi Jiyong) saved her, Jiyong was a farmer and a clumsy boy living his happy life, and when he saved her, it all became topsy-turvy. Their relationship grew in the book, and it was so fun to read. The story has multiple POVs which gets confusing at the start but as so...

Trilogies I want to read in 2017- PART 1

Image
Trilogies I want to read in 2017 We all set reading goals at the beginning of the year, and like everyone, I set to read 35 books in 2017. I know this goal is easy as pie, but I don't want to burden myself and read as many books as I possibly can. So my friend and I decided to make a list of the Trilogies we want to read in 2017. Also, these are the that trilogies we haven't started reading (not even the first book) and want to dive into them as soon as we can. This blog will be in two parts: I (Anushka) would write the first part, and Yashvi will write the second part.  Okay, I have five trilogies that I eagerly want to read, and most of them are fantasy. Without any further ado, here's the list: 1. Anna and the French Kiss by  Stephanie Perkins  In this, we have first book Anna and the French Kiss; the second book is Lola and the Boy Next Door and lastly Isla and the Happily Ever After.  These are the contemporary young adult genre, and I...

Beside Myself  Blurb: Beside Myself  is a literary thriller about identical twins, Ellie and Helen, who swap places aged six. At first it is just a game, but then Ellie refuses to swap back. Forced into her new identity, Helen develops a host of behavioural problems, delinquency and chronic instability. With their lives diverging sharply, one twin headed for stardom and the other locked in a spiral of addiction and mental illness, how will the deception ever be uncovered? Exploring questions of identity, selfhood, and how other people's expectations affect human behaviour, this novel is as gripping as it is psychologically complex.   Review: I got this book from  +Bloomsbury Publishing   (Bloomsbury India) for an honest review. I just love psychological thriller book and I just enjoyed reading it. This is a story of twin sisters Helen and Eleanor (Ellie). Helen is always a good kid. She excels in schools, was a quick learner, speak...
